What happens when I turn up?
The club will provide a jacket and belt for the first month, whilst newcomers try the sport. It is also recommended that newcomers also come prepared with a long pair of track suit bottoms.
Once newcomers feel they are enjoying the sport they can purchase their own Judo Suit, known as a Judogi either from the club or most sports shops. The Judogi is reinforced in all the right places and consists of a jacket, trousers and belt. The only other personal equipment required would be a pair of zori, (this is a pair of flip-flops) needed for walking to and from the training or contest mat.
Female contestants shall wear under the jacket either:
1) A plain white or off-white T-shirt, with short sleeves, rather strong, long enough to be worn inside the trousers, or:
2) A plain white or off-white leotard with short sleeves.
