Welcome to the British Judo Association Midland Area information page

The BJA Midland Area is one of the 12 regional branches of the British Judo Association and is responsible for overseeing judo activities across the 11 counties that make up the Midlands region of the UK.

With a wide geographic spread the area is host to 46 British Judo affiliated clubs across the counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, West Midlands, Shropshire and Lincolnshire.

Our aim is to promote the sport we love and provide opportunities for everyone involved across the region. This includes organising a variety of events, competitions and training sessions for our judoka.

We also endeavour to support our developing judo athletes to compete at various levels, as well as assist clubs, coaches, referees, officials and other volunteers across the Midlands by offering opportunities for financial assistance.

Like all the other BJA regional areas across the country, it is dependent on the support of volunteers who donate their time and energy to the Area Committee. It is their responsibility to oversee the organisation and delivery of competitions and dan gradings; facilitate referee development and coaching revalidation events alongside other training activities.

Making these events possible, and successful, relies entirely on the Midland Area Committee and the support they are given. To help move Midlands Judo forward we are actively seeking interest from willing members of the judo community to join us.

Do you think you could help improve judo in the Midland Area?
Could you assist us with event organisation? Do you have ideas and suggestions? There are opportunities available to support your area in many ways, both in an official capacity with a committee role, or just casually by volunteering at events. Even your presence at the committees annual general meeting could make a difference.

Get in touch with us, we would love to hear from you!
